GCSE or GCSE equivalent qualifications in Maths and English are required for Universities and most employment. Functional skills is a GCSE equivalent qualification that is accepted by employers and Universities since Ofqual has regulated all of the exams and the UK government has approved this qualification. Although Universities accept functional skills qualifications, not all course providers accept it, therefore check with your course provider beforehand. City & Guilds functional skills is an exam board that provides IT, Maths and English functional skills exams.
